Big Red Tent: Camping made easy!
Natural bounty is not always obscure. It often just takes some exploring. Green Hill Estate khopoli is serentiy at its best! Raised some 100 feet above a lake and with a backdrop of the local hills, you will be transported much further than the 80km that you have driven from the city madness.

When you choose to camp, you are looking for a challenge! and this is a challenge to slow down! To experience and to explore.
The location is charming and Big Red Tent adds the touch of amenities needed to make your experience familiar!
Its not often that we experiment with our vacations, but here we encourage it. From living in tents, building a campfire, grilling your dinner or a sleepy afternoon in a hammock, once you have enjoyed camping, you will want to introduce others to the idea. It is what "Happy Campers" do!

A day at the campground is simple, but a walk or yoga in the morning, pitching your tent on time just before sundown and firing up your barbeque grill and campfires just after the sun sets is the discipline of camping. Imagine the crackling of burning wood followed by an even yellow glow across the campground in the evening. This is the pride of camping.
Our sites are private and each site has a plug point for your cellphone, or if you must, your laptop. Ask for a luggage tent make yourself at home! We promise an ambience and we provide an experience.

Our common areas have games and puzzles, and once you get to them you will be playing late into the night! Ask us for our library and sketch zone along with other do it yourself activity ideas that will guide and enrich your experience.

Showers and WCs are common to campers. These are maintained to high standards with ample changing space.
Being (also read existing) with nature is the core theme at Big Red Tent. We are located at driving distances from Mumbai and Pune. We gurantee quiet times among the sounds of nature coupled with activities tailored to our destination

Mornings have pleasant ambling and a rizing buzz as our guests emerge from their tents.
You can attempt some yoga or meditation with the rising sun.
A walk down to the lake is beautiful at this time. It is a 10 minute trek but with no cellphone connectivity at the spot, it is quality time to lose yourself.
You are most welcome to have a breakfast cookout. Plan simple recipes from the food section on this website. There's nothing like a baked beans, scrambled eggs or fresh cup of coffee to kickstart a day in the outdoors.
You can of course dig into the board games or puzzles or continue reading that novel that you put down at sunset.
Do spend the time looking for a shaded spot to brave the afternoon sun.

Evenings are spectacular as guests emerge from the shade by about 4:30 in the evening. The campground is bathed in a golden glow.
You have a few hours of light in which to play a game of football or cricket or volleyball or just toss around a frizbee
The evening is also time to pitch tents. Do this before its too dark. Don't worry we will remind you.
Dusk by the lake is also beautiful and you should probably head there with your evening cup of tea
Pitch in to get the campfire going or spend those last few hours of light with a novel in a hammock
Kids of course will have ample opportunity to run around in abandon

Nights the the most exciting time at the campground. As it gets a little chilly, sitting by a campfire is a pleasure
If you have prepared a barbecue, this is where you test your skills. Regardless you will probably enjoying a grilled meal in the evening
You will of course meet other campers around the campfire and maybe exchage a story
Nights are restful and sky gazing, or a night stroll or even a night hike are possible.
Finally sleeping in tents is an experience by itself.

You are camping, and its your own time in the outdoors. Plan it to enjoy it.
There are at least three meals that you need to plan for your stay at Big Red Tent Khopoli. While a simple breakfast fare is offered, you will want to plan lunch, dinner and an evening snack.

  • Drive out for a meal Iconic eateries of the yesteryears including Sunny da Dhaba and Ramakant vada-pav are within reach and if you thought pizza was the last thing you could get around here, think again, dominoes has an outlet in lonavala some 20 km from the camp!(this is just an anecdote, it is quite inconvenient to get pizza from lonavala. we'd rather you dry our pizza recipe mentioned in our recipe ideas)
